The source code is the division of software that mainly computer users do not forever observe: it is the code computer programmers can influence to alter how a section of software-a series or submission works. The MineClone2 "map" is basically just a compass, it shows a picture of the local chunks but can't be resized. There's a couple cartography mods, but they seem to only make small maps for use in-game. There's a minetestmapper.py in the base game's distro, but it's python2, requires an obsolete version of PIL, 2to3 didn't fix it. minetestmapper -colors my-colors.txt -i "$worlddir/$mapname" -o "$mapname-$d.png" Worlddir="$HOME/Library/Application Support/minetest/worlds" Make a script, my-map.zsh (change mapname, worlddir to wherever yours are): #!/bin/zsh Grinds for half an hour, get a full white image, because all the MineClone2 nodes are unknown, so copied colors.txt to my-colors.txt, and add this to the end: I actually have libgd installed with MacPorts, gd2, but it wasn't found at first, adjusted my env vars and now: cmake. Repeat, half an hour… I still get 227 lines of unknown blocks, but the base map generates OK now, and looks good enough. I hate the sand color, and I dunno what the dark areas are. And I'll add more to my-colors.txt file and post that sometime.Īuthor mdhughes Posted on Categories MineTest, videogames Tags MineTest, videogames Leave a comment on Minetest Mapping MineTest skins OOH, what's that structure at the far west? I'm planning to skyrail far west, then go there and the unexplored village W-SW next time. I love so much about this game and community, but there are so many poorly documented quirks that only a handful of folks know how to overcome. So I hate the default adventurer skins, even if it's usually covered by armor and I use first-person camera. So if any of you texture guru's have any advise on how one could use this texture with AND without using a texture pack, I would love to hear from you.Īnother question that's been pestering me: How would a server be able to use this image so connected clients could use it? I'd rather avoid the latter as it would get lost with every upgrade. The only way I can seem to get it to work is have the image in a texture pack folder that is selected in the settings tab, or outright replace the image in the textures/base/pack folder. ![]() Having it in the root of the textures folder does not work for me. So I deselected the "all" texture pack and of course it does not work for me. I must of done that ages ago in some test of sorts, I don't know. Of course I did not notice that I've had "all" selected in my texture pack tab. So I plopped my new texture into my "all" folder and it worked for me. Although I can't find the reference now, I recall reading somewhere that textures in that folder will override even installed texture packs, and there is no need to select "all" in your texture pack settings tab. I'm going to come right out and admit I'm highly confused about texture locations when it comes to texture packs.Īccording to the wiki you can add a folder called "all". That way it will work with whatever texture packs you may use. Just make a folder in your minetest textures directory (where all your texture packs would be installed) named "all" and put the overlay image in there. The compass points will rotate as the map rotates so travel direction is accurate. W.) and a red dot in the center that helps to mark the precise player position in the map.
